FRIDAY, OCTOBER 29, 2021 | 9:00 AM | INNOVARE

A brand new, state-of-the-art Quantum science laboratory, constructed at the Innovare Advancement Center (IAC), and designed to lead to breakthrough technology to improve our national security, will soon be dedicated in the name of the man who oversaw its creation.

The naming of the quantum laboratory in his honor is an additional recognition of his hard work and commitment to making sure this important technology is studied here in Rome.
You are invited to celebrate the official unveiling of the

The lab will help build foundational basic research in quantum science that will be used by scientists and researchers at the Air Force Research Laboratory Information Directorate (AFRL/RI) to make further advancements in the Air Force’s counterintelligence efforts.

The laboratory is located on the first floor of the IAC. Researchers and scientists from across the Country, and around the world, will be invited to the Mohawk Valley to perform basic level research on quantum computing.
“We want to use Innovare to grow a
Quantum Information Science,
Artificial Intelligence and Cyber Security hub
for the Air Force, our world-wide partners, and the region… because we are focused, and we are motivated, and we know you are too, to accelerate the achievement of quantum breakthroughs that can elevate our game – in the air, on the land, at sea, in space and cyber space.”
- Col. Timothy J. Lawrence
Throughout his career, Col. Timothy J. Lawrence was recognized with many achievements and notable accomplishments including, but not limited to: two Master’s degrees, one in Nuclear engineering, and another in Military Operations and Scientific Art; a Doctor of Philosophy degree in Electrical and Satellite Engineering; the first American to swim from Jersey (UK) to France (19 miles); World Jaycees Outstanding Young Person of the World for Technology in 2001; awarded the Meritorious Service Medal, multiple Legion of Merit decorations, and many more accolades.

As Innovare-connected research takes place at partnering organizations all over the world, the Innovare open business model represents a bold step forward in implementing the National Quantum Initiative Act, which aims to foster the development of a quantum technology ecosystem among government, industry, and academia.
The laboratory will consist of three primary quantum technologies:
Collaborators will look to use Quantum Information Processing to analyze and improve:
  • Trapped ions
  • Photonics
  • Superconducting
  • Computer hardware and software
  • Data protection
  • Cybersecurity
  • Artificial intelligence
The Air Force Research Laboratory Information Directorate was recently designated as the Quantum Information Science Research Center for the U.S. Air Force and U.S. Space Force. That research will take place in Innovare’s two leading-edge Quantum Labs.
